I love this episode to pieces. I really do. It is such a great touchstone to understanding the characterisation choices I've made for Sam and Cameron, Hell, for Daniel and Teal'c as well. This episode shows off things in each of their personalities or mannerisms that is a foundation for any fic I write with them.

In honour of justdreaming88 's icon post below I went and rewatched Flesh and Blood. I really do like this episode despite it kind of being a low ebb in the fight against the Ori. It reinforces several things which are a staple of my fics, like Sam just expecting Daniel to be alive, because that's how things work with SG-1, and Cam being devious and able to think on his feet and not putting up with Brat'ac's usual dying with honour kick.

Read on below the foldCollapse )

Not quite for a re-squee but I thought the icons should go here anyway.

So, as re-squees now include general episode related creativity these icons count. I think it's a great episode: one, because Cam rescues Sam; two, because once the viewer/audience is out of hospital Cam and Sam kiss or something of that ilk; three, because Sam wears a flight suit and makes it look good; four, Cam wears a flight suit at makes it look good; five, shippiness.

Prototype is a Daniel-centric episode. No joke.Collapse )

Took me long enough, didn't it Claire? I even watched the episode again after I told you I watched it.

As you can see, I have no intentions of keeping to any particular order. I'm evil like that.

Unending has... issues. Almost a schizophrenic episode from the point of view of a Sam/Cam shipper. On the one hand they share a kiss, albeit a chaste one, and Cameron is the one who gives Sam's solution the final push it needs to work. On the other hand, it depicts Cam as blaming Sam for their predicament, snapping and arguing with her in his frustration. And while it gives all the Daniel/Vala shippers all the vindication and support they'd ever need, it seems to make a point of showing Sam and Cameron as distant to a certain extent.

It also doesn't help our cause that Amanda Tapping and Chris Judge were playing their scenes with a subtle hint of Sam/Teal'c now does it? =P

Still, the fact they spent fifty years on that ship allows for a lot of scope to change the emphasis and even the meaning of the troublesome scenes – something I hope I've effectively done in my fics – while also placing the separation in context, i.e. the episode didn't show all the hot smexin' they were getting up to all the time.

Onwards!Collapse )

Being very much the newbie to this, I feel I should take a leaf out of Colonel Mitchell's book and shake things up.

Now I'm of the mind that anything you truly love only gets better with repeated viewing or listening or reading. I am that guy that listens to the same song on repeat for days on end. I do the same with my fandom. I still re-watch Farscape and Firefly in their entirety on a regular basis. I finish the Peacekeeper Wars, gush for a little while and then stick on the disc to watch Premiere. Or I finish Serenity and rail at the cruelty of Wash and Book getting Jossed then put the pilot on because Mal is a very bad man.

However, I want to give my re-re-squees a slightly different treatment. I'm going to go over a scene which I wrote into one of the stories in my fanfics. I hope to shed some light on my interpretation of a particular moment or the thought process and motivation behind writing the story.

Some will only be peripherally dealing with the episode, i.e. they occur in the time frame, others will be an actual retelling of the scene, not just a tag. I don't just want to post the story and leave it at that, I want to give you a glimpse into my stupid little brain.

So, without further ado, Avalon Part 1.Collapse )

Highlights and comments.
1. This is such a good Vala ep.
2. Cam looks hot.
3. Leather jacket!
4. Motorbike!
5. Some great S/C glances.
6. "You keep losing your pants."
7. Topless and handcuffed Cam, what more could you want? lol
8. Though I can't quite remember what this related to (as I watched the ep on Thursday morning and it's not Saturday night) I wrote, methinks Daniel doth protest too much.
9. Yay Vala is an official part of the team!

I watched Uninvited and then decided to skip 200 for now and went straight on to Counterstrike.

Limited highlights cause I was ironing at the time.

Some good but short S/C glances/moments in both of these.
Yay Adria is back (yes there's something wrong with me)
I like Sam rescuing Cam and Teal'c in Counterstrike.

That's all I can remember right now.

1. Anyone else think that Sam and Cam sometimes play footsie under the table?
2. Ba'al ah my second favourite baddie.
3. Oh bad Ba'al ball jokes.
4. I like the way Cam turns straight to Sam for advice or info.
5. Ah, I like the way they look at each other.
6. I like that Cam recognises he can control SG-1, plus I like that he mentions that he and Sam are the same rank.
7. I remain surprised at the numnber of Jaffa still willingly following Ba'al.
8. I always wonder if actors like Cliff Simon get paid more when they play multiple characters, or in his case multiple versions of the same character.
9. I don't like NID agent Barrett even if at this point he's been brain washed.
10. *hugs* to Sam for being conned by Ba'al.
11. Yay for Cam resucing Sam!
12. Nice Sam/Cam ending.

I like the quirky looks Sam keeps throwing Cam
I also like how protective Cam is over Sam in regards to McKay.
Daniel and Vala's enthusiasm for Atlantis, though two different sorts of enthusiasm.

See my fic for a bit of post-ep smut.
